UMMC Radiologic Science Workforce Enhancement Scholarship
Program Overview
The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) offers a limited number of service scholarships to radiologic technology students in the UMMC Traditional Radiologic Sciences program who wish to become imaging technologists in qualifying positions at UMMC. Note: Students enrolled in the Traditional RS program are not eligible to apply until their summer semester of the second program year.
Application Dates
Applications must be submitted by the following dates for consideration.
- Summer Semester – May 1 to June 15
- Fall Semester – July 15 to September 1
- Spring Semester – December 1 to January 20
Awards are made by selection criteria/committee, as funding is available. Priority is given to eligible renewal Applicants.
Eligibility Requirements
Recipients must meet the following eligibility requirements.
- Recipient must be enrolled, and in the second program year (senior student), in the UMMC Traditional RS Program in the School of Health Related Professions at the University of Mississippi Medical Center;
- Recipient must apply and receive the UMMC RS Workforce Enhancement Scholarship; and
- Recipient must agree to a service commitment of one-year for each semester that the scholarship award is accepted and received by Recipient. The service commitment begins no later than thirty (30) days after graduation from the UMMC Traditional RS program.
- Recipient must meet any and all selection criteria deemed appropriate by the Radiologic Sciences scholarship selection committee. Not all applicants will be awarded due to number of scholarship offerings (fund availability) each semester.
Award Amount
The UMMC RS Workforce Enhancement Scholarship awards tuition and the following fees charged by the institution for participation in the RS Program.

Service Obligations
Recipient must:
- Be enrolled, and in the second program year (senior), at UMMC in the Traditional RS Program;
- Apply for, be awarded, and accept the scholarship;
- Maintain full-time enrollment in the UMMC Traditional RS Program;
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress while enrolled in the UMMC Traditional RS Program in accordance with School of Health Related Professions policies;
- Seek and obtain employment with UMMC in a full-time qualifying imaging technologist position (qualifying imaging technologist positions will be determined by UMMC health system leadership at the time of application);
- Satisfy all UMMC pre-employment qualifications, and maintain one year of full-time employment in a full-time qualifying imaging technologist position at UMMC for each semester that the scholarship award is accepted and received by Recipient;
- Complete the ninety (90) day orientation period required for the full-time qualifying imaging technologist position with UMMC prior to the beginning of the commitment period;
- Complete at least one year of service in the full-time qualifying imaging technologist position before transferring to a full-time imaging technologist position in another UMMC department;
- Within ten (10) days of completing the ninety (90) day orientation period, and annually thereafter, until the commitment period has been completed, Recipient will provide the Office of Student Financial Services via email to acct-studentsloan@umc.edu with written verification of full-time UMMC employment in a qualifying position; and
- Satisfy all required UMMC pre-employment qualifications and successfully begin employment in a full-time qualifying imaging technologist position no later than thirty (30) days after graduation from the RS Program.

After the Application
If Recipient meets the eligibility criteria, funding is available, and meets selection criteria, the Recipient will receive a link from ECSI through Recipient’s UMMC email, which will route Recipient to the contract for Recipient’s review. If Recipient chooses to accept the award, they must:
